The 1st Western District Military Court sentenced 22-year-old St. Petersburg resident Yuri Petrash to 10 years in prison. He was found guilty of terrorism for setting fire to the doors of the FSB building, reported RIA "Novosti". The first 2 years he will spend in prison, the remaining 8 years in a high-security colony.
According to the investigation, on February 7, 2025, St. Petersburg resident born in 2002, Yuri Petrash, poured flammable liquid on two entrance doors of the FSB and set them on fire, doing so leisurely: first setting fire to the door on Shpalernaya Street, and then on Zakharyevskaya Street. On the same day, Petrash was detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center.
The young man claimed that he committed the crime because he became a victim of scammers. First, the criminals took his money, and then promised to return it if he threw a "Molotov cocktail" at the FSB building.
According to "Fontanka", Petrash studied at the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, planning to become a chemist. The publication writes that the student was interested in Japanese animation, popular bloggers, and multiplayer video games.
