As reported by the Moscow Investigative Committee, in September 2024 and March 2025, Timchenko published a video «to form protest sentiments among citizens» and «to involve them in the activities» of an «undesirable organization». However, the Investigative Committee does not specify which videos are being referred to.
The investigation is considering declaring Timchenko wanted. In January 2023, «Meduza» was recognized as an «undesirable organization». Since then, protocols have repeatedly been drawn up against the publication's employees for cooperation with an «undesirable organization». Previously, Galina Timchenko was also fined under an administrative article for «participation in the activities of an undesirable organization». Now, within the framework of the criminal case, she is accused of organization.
In August 2024, the Ministry of Justice recognized Timchenko as a «foreign agent». Among the grounds for inclusion in the registry, the Ministry of Justice noted an anti-war stance, residence outside of Russia, dissemination of «unreliable information» about official Russian policy, as well as materials from other «foreign agents».
In an interview with «Dozhd»*, Timchenko assured that this criminal case will not affect the work of «Meduza». «I was even somewhat pleased that they corrected their mistake because last time they issued me an administrative protocol for participation in the activities of an undesirable organization. I said that I not only participate in it, I created it. So they corrected themselves», — she said.
