Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Army Igor Kostyukov, and Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin will accompany him to the negotiations. The corresponding order was signed by Vladimir Putin.
Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, during a conversation with journalists in Doha, reported that he and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will arrive in Istanbul only on May 16. Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that Rubio would head the American delegation at the negotiations. Whether the US will participate in the negotiations on May 15 is unknown.
In addition, Trump did not rule out the possibility of his meeting with Vladimir Putin in Turkey if it helps to end the war in Ukraine, noting at the same time that his schedule for Thursday is already fully booked.
