Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on social media X that the Russian special services are behind the arson of a large shopping center in Warsaw.
«Now we know for sure that the large fire at the Marywilska shopping center in Warsaw was caused by arson ordered by the Russian special services», he said.
According to him, some of the perpetrators have already been detained, and all others have been identified and are being sought.
The large-scale fire at the Marywilska shopping center occurred on May 12, 2024. The complex, covering an area of 80,000 m², housed about 1,400 shops and service points. The fire was caused by the detonation of an explosive device. Fragments of explosive devices were found under the debris, which were investigated by the investigation.
The fire destroyed the giant shopping center in a few hours. Over 121 days, 55 prosecutors and 100 police officers investigated the site of the fire, which caused damage exceeding 1 million zlotys. Evidence was found confirming deliberate interference. In addition, fingerprints and biological traces were discovered on the territory of the burned complex, which were studied. The investigation reached an unequivocal conclusion: the arson was organized by the Russian special services.
