In Lviv, delegations from 35 countries made an official decision on the Special Tribunal and on transferring 1 billion euros of profits from Russia's frozen assets to Ukraine

Delegations from 35 European countries who arrived in Lviv supported the creation of a Special Tribunal for the crime of Russia's aggression, reported UNIAN. Within the tribunal, investigations will be conducted against the top leadership of Russia, with about 20 people currently on the list. However, it will not be possible to charge Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, or issue a warrant for their arrest until they resign from their state positions.

«An important signal is the establishment of the tribunal for the crime of aggression. This means that no one will remain unpunished for the crimes they committed. Even leaders who decided to send their soldiers to commit war crimes in Ukraine», stated EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

According to the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Iryna Mudra, a legal framework for the Special Tribunal will be laid in 2025. Its launch could take place as early as 2026.

Meanwhile, the process of working on the Special Tribunal will begin next week in Luxembourg, where a meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will be held, reports «RBC-Ukraine».

The International Criminal Court has already issued six arrest warrants for Russia's military-political leadership. However, the court in The Hague cannot try Russian officials because Russia has not signed the Rome Statute. Therefore, Ukraine initiated the creation of a special tribunal for the crime of aggression by Russia against Ukraine, which dozens of countries are working on. As previously reported, 44 countries have joined the special coalition.

Also at today's meeting, EU diplomats decided to transfer the profits from Russia's frozen assets, amounting to 1 billion euros, to Ukraine. The EU, France, Italy, and Denmark will purchase weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
