The U.S. State Department sent a message to Congress about the license to export weapons to Ukraine, the corresponding document is published on the Congress website.
This concerns direct deliveries from private companies (Direct Commercial Sales). For transactions of $50 million and above, permission must be obtained from the State Department and Congress must be notified. As noted by Kyiv Post, the permission is granted for the export of defense-related goods, including technical data and defense services.
«All deals under DCS proceed quietly, they are not publicly announced like state military aid packages, — said Kyiv Post Colby Budwor from the research group Tochnyi. — The news here is that the sale of weapons continues, although until now everything indicated that Trump would completely cut off Ukraine from supplies».
The publication reminds that in early April, Volodymyr Zelensky requested permission from the U.S. to purchase air defense systems. The notification of the resumption of arms sales to Ukraine was sent to Congress on April 29 — before the U.S. and Ukraine signed a minerals agreement.
