UPD: Police confirmed the death of nine people

A black Audi SUV drove into a crowd on April 26 around 8:00 PM local time near 41st Avenue and Fraser Street in Vancouver, where a festival was being held in honor of the Philippine holiday — Lapu-Lapu Day.

The exact number of victims is not specified, but sources from Global News reported that at least eight people, including a child, died, and at least six others were injured.

Vancouver police have not yet confirmed these figures, stating that it would be incorrect to specify an exact number as the injured were taken to several hospitals in the region and detailed information needs to be gathered.

The 30-year-old suspect, a Vancouver resident, was arrested at the scene. According to police, the suspect was previously known to them.
