The head of Mari El, Yuri Zaitsev, speaking on the government's work report, stated that in 2025, the regional authorities will allocate "about two billion rubles" to support participants of the war with Ukraine and their families, TASS reported.
In early December 2024, the deputies of the State Assembly of Mari El adopted the budget for 2025. Revenues for this year were forecasted at 59.6 billion rubles, expenses at 62.7 billion rubles. Thus, the deficit amounted to 3.1 billion rubles, or 5% of the expenses.
At the same time, the one-time regional payment from the republic for signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense is 2.6 million rubles.
According to calculations by "Idel.Realities"*, since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, at least 835 natives of Mari El have already died. However, the list includes only those whose death was recognized in some way by the Russian side, the relatives of the deceased, or educational institutions and other public organizations.
