A case of 'justifying terrorism' and 'inciting hatred' was initiated against the 43-year-old resident of Barnaul, Vladimir Mitrofanov, who was sentenced to seven years in a penal colony for anti-war comments, reported the human rights project 'OVD-Info'*.
The reason for the second criminal case was comments he left under posts on 'VKontakte' in April and May 2023. In one of them, the man wrote that 'the enemies of Russia are in the Kremlin', and in another — 'Beautiful!!! Combat mosquitoes in action', notes 'OVD-Info'.
In February 2025, the case against Mitrofanov was submitted to the 2nd Eastern District Military Court. In total, the resident of Barnaul is charged with three episodes of 'justifying terrorism' and one episode of 'inciting hatred', according to the court's website.
In May 2023, the resident of Barnaul was sentenced to seven years in a general regime colony for the case of 'justifying terrorism', spreading military 'fakes', and 'possession of drugs'. The investigation saw justification of terrorism in the comment about the 'necessity of burning' representatives of the State Duma and 'persons exercising their official powers in the Kremlin and regional administration buildings'.
As 'fakes', the investigation attributed to Mitrofanov comments about the war in Ukraine, in which they saw 'hatred and enmity towards the current state authorities, including the President'.
