The 2nd Eastern District Military Court sentenced 46-year-old resident of the Irkutsk region Viktor Konovalov** to seven years in a general regime penal colony in a case related to publications on Telegram, the court's press service reported. The man was charged with articles on «calls for terrorism» and «activities against the security of Russia». In addition to the actual sentence, Konovalov was given one and a half years of restricted freedom and a three-year ban on using messengers.

According to the investigation, the man opposed the Russian invasion of Ukraine and posted on Telegram in support of the «Russian Volunteer Corps» and the Legion «Freedom of Russia», which are recognized as «terrorist» organizations in Russia.

The criminal case was initiated back in 2022, and the man was added to the list of «terrorists and extremists».
