Former psychiatrist of the prison tuberculosis hospital No. 19 in Rostov, Anastasia Potorochina, applied for a contract with the Ministry of Defense, reported the local publication 161.ru. The application is still under review, and the contract has not yet been concluded.
If the contract is concluded, Potorochina may become a military medic and completely avoid prison punishment — she was sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
In January 2024, the court sentenced Anastasia Potorochina to five years in a colony. Her superior, Alexander Lyakh, received 7.5 years of imprisonment and in March 2025 already went to war, psychiatrist Daria Pozdnyakova was sentenced to six years in a colony.
From spring 2018 to autumn 2020, patients in the psychiatric ward of the prison hospital were tied to beds — sometimes for weeks and months, although by law this cannot be done for more than two hours. At least 21 patients died in the psychiatric ward of MOTB-19 over the year. The court found the former heads of the medical institution guilty of organizing a “torture conveyor.” According to the prosecution, Pozdnyakova asked Potorochina to enter false data into medical records to cover up traces of torture.
