The Pushkin City Court of the Moscow Region sentenced 48-year-old Evgenia Samokhina to six years in a penal colony, finding her guilty of spreading 'fakes' about the army based on 'political hatred'. She was also banned from administering websites for three years, reported SOTAvision*. The prosecution requested 7 years in a penal colony for the defendant.
The woman was charged with two posts on 'VKontakte' about the deaths of Ukrainian civilians under attacks by the Russian army.
In her final statement, Samokhina apologized to Russian servicemen and 'those whom the information on her page misled'. She stated that she changed her attitude towards the 'SVO'. 'Until the goals of the SVO are achieved, until military actions leave the territory of our country, this cannot and should not be ended,' the publication quotes her court speech.
During the process, Samokhina stated that she did not know that posting on a personal page could be considered 'public dissemination' of anything. The defendant also denied the charge of political hatred.
The defense noted that the defendant's son donated 30 thousand rubles on behalf of Samokhina for the needs of military medics participating in the 'special operation'.
In October 2022, businesswoman Evgenia Samokhina from Pushkin, Moscow region, was fined 42 thousand rubles under an administrative article for 'discrediting' the Russian army. The reason for this was blue and yellow ribbons and the inscription 'No to war' on the rear window of her car.
Later, a criminal case was initiated against Samokhina for two episodes of 'spreading knowingly false information about the army based on political hatred'.
