In the court debates on the case of Daria Kozyreva, the prosecution requested six years in a general regime colony for «discrediting» the army with a quote from Taras Shevchenko and an anti-war interview.
In December, the court returned the episode related to the interview for revision due to procedural violations, and in February, Daria Kozyreva was released from the pre-trial detention center under a more lenient measure — a ban on certain actions.
However, on April 10, it became clear that both episodes of the accusation remained in the case.
As reported by a correspondent from «Mediazona»** from the courtroom, prosecutor Mikhail Russkikh began the debates by asking whether Kozyreva admits her guilt. The girl once again stated that she does not admit guilt.
After which the prosecutor asked the court to sentence 19-year-old Daria Kozyreva to six years in a general regime colony. He notes that she did not admit guilt, she has no children or family, and she was previously held administratively liable. The prosecution considered the fact that the «crime» was committed «during the mobilization period» as an aggravating circumstance.
In January 2024, activist Daria Kozyreva was expelled from St. Petersburg University due to an administrative fine for «discrediting» the Russian army. On February 24, she was detained for a poster on the monument to the poet Taras Shevchenko with a fragment of his poem «Testament». On February 28, she was charged with «repeated discrediting of the Russian Armed Forces». The accusation also included an episode with an interview to the channel «Sever.Realii», which had already been deleted.
In 2022, a criminal case was initiated against the then 17-year-old Kozyreva for intentional damage to property — the girl wrote on an installation on Palace Square dedicated to St. Petersburg's assistance to Mariupol the words: «Murderers, you bombed it. Judas».
