Bailiffs demand to confiscate the summer cottage of Ruslan Zinin's family in favor of the state to repair the Ust-Ilimsk military commissariat, Zinin's mother told "People of Baikal". The Ministry of Defense of Russia made such a petition.
According to the verdict, Zinin must compensate 900 thousand rubles for the damage to the military commissariat's property. After Ruslan shot the military commissar Alexander Eliseev, he spilled a flammable liquid and set it on fire. The defense tried to prove that the damage was not that serious — about a meter of floor and ceiling were scorched, but the court left the compensation amount unchanged.
The examination determined the repair cost at 963 thousand rubles, the court reduced it to 900 thousand rubles. Since the young man has no money, the bailiffs are seizing property — the family's 12-acre summer cottage in Ust-Ilimsk.
"Ruslan was only in the assembly hall, and they counted some other rooms for him there," said the convicted man's mother, Marina Zinin. "All he did was scorch about a meter by meter of the floor where it burned. What's the point of the peeling wallpaper? Naturally, there's no 900 thousand there. You could repair the whole building with that money!"
In September 2022, Zinin came to the military commissariat with an old sawed-off shotgun to save his cousin from mobilization and wounded Commissioner Alexander Eliseev. He was sentenced to 19 years in prison on charges of committing a terrorist act, later the appellate court increased his term to 20 years. He is also obliged to pay 1 million rubles in compensation to the military commissar Alexander Eliseev, whom he shot. Zinin's brother was not mobilized.
Ruslan Zinin reported torture in the pre-trial detention center and went on a hunger strike. The young man was sent to solitary confinement twice in a row for a total of 25 days. Zinin went on a hunger strike because his mother, who traveled a day to the detention center, was not allowed to see him. He did not eat for eight days and lost a lot of weight. In the detention center, he was examined and given IVs. The first time he was placed in solitary confinement was because he refused to move to another cell, the second time — for cutting himself.
