The news anchor of «Channel One» Ekaterina Andreeva, in addition to Russian citizenship, also holds passports of Montenegro and Honduras, and her daughter permanently lives in Latvia, according to a new investigation by FBK. Together with Sergey Brilev, who turned out to be a British citizen, she hosted «direct lines» with Vladimir Putin from 2001 to 2007.
Thanks to Montenegrin citizenship, which is also a NATO country, one of the main propagandists of the Kremlin continues to travel freely across Europe and the world even after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. She has not been included in any sanctions list, and since 2022 has repeatedly been to Finland, Norway, and other European countries.
Andreeva received her Honduran passport almost 20 years ago — on November 27, 2005, investigators published a power of attorney issued to Andreeva in the name of a lawyer from Honduras, where her personal data and passport number of this country are indicated. She obtained citizenship thanks to her husband Dusko Perovic, who, in addition to Serbian and Montenegrin citizenship, also had a Honduran passport.
It became known about Andreeva's Montenegrin passport back in 2015 — Alexei Navalny** reported about it then. According to his information, the TV presenter received Montenegrin citizenship in 2011. According to local media reports, Ekaterina Andreeva was granted honorary citizenship of Montenegro — such is given to people whose profession and status are of special significance to the state and contribute to the realization of scientific, economic, cultural, sports, and other interests.
In Montenegro, Andreeva and her husband, a businessman and ambassador of the Republic of Srpska in Moscow, have a plot and a house on the territory of the elite resort Sveti Stefan. The total area of the plot is more than a hectare. All this was purchased by Dusko Perovic in 2015 and is now worth about 10 million euros.
FBK will demand to include propagandist Ekaterina Andreeva in all sanctions lists, and will also appeal to the government of Montenegro to revoke Andreeva's honorary citizenship.
