Vadim Shamarin was sentenced to seven years in a high-security colony, 36 million rubles were confiscated, and he was stripped of his military rank, reports «RIA Novosti». The prosecution requested 12 years in a colony and a 107 million ruble fine for him.
According to the investigation, Shamarin received a bribe of 36 million rubles from April 2016 to October 2023 from the general director and chief accountant of the «Perm Telephone Plant» for increasing the volume of products supplied to the Ministry of Defense and general patronage. Contracts for the supply of communication devices were concluded for 1.4 billion rubles.
Vadim Shamarin was detained in May 2024. He pleaded guilty and entered into a pre-trial cooperation agreement with the prosecution. The trials in Shamarin's case were held in closed session, but it is known that the accused filed an application to participate in the SVO, writes «Cautiously, News».
As reported by «Kommersant», Shamarin's predecessor, Khalil Arslanov, was arrested in 2020 on charges of fraud and corruption in the supply of equipment to the armed forces. He was accused of receiving a bribe and two episodes of particularly large-scale fraud totaling about 6.7 billion rubles.
