A criminal case has been initiated against the former head of IK-2 in Pokrov, Vladimir region, and his deputy for systematically taking bribes from prisoners, reported the regional department of the Investigative Committee. Convicts, intermediaries, and lawyers from the Vladimir Regional Bar Association No. 1 also participated in the corruption scheme. The publication "Vladimir News" citing the regional FSB department, writes that it concerns the former head of the colony Dmitry Veselov and his deputy with the surname Konkov.
According to the investigation, in 2024, two convicts transferred 300 thousand rubles each through their lawyers to the colony staff in Pokrov for incentives and positive characteristics for parole. Part of the money, according to the Investigative Committee of the Vladimir region, was received by the head of the colony.
In addition, as stated in the case materials, another prisoner paid 170 thousand rubles to the deputy head for transfer to lighter conditions and the processing of incentives, also affecting the possibility of parole. The money was transferred through an intermediary from Moscow, who bought household appliances with it and handed it over to a colony employee.
In IK-2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Vladimir region, from March 2021 to June 2022, politician Alexei Navalny was held. It was there that the administration secretly recorded his meetings with lawyers, violating attorney-client privilege. In January 2025, it was announced that the colony would be closed, a process expected to take about a year.
