Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with CBS News urged Donald Trump to come to Ukraine to realize what Vladimir Putin represents

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with CBS News  spoke about the high price Ukrainians pay daily. The voiceover in the video from Zelensky's interview reported that Russian troops strike Ukrainian cities daily, with civilian casualties amounting to 13,000 and military losses to 100,000. The video also mentions that over 600 children have died, 780 medical facilities and 1,700 schools have been attacked.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported on Monday morning that at least 618 children have died in Ukraine, and at least 1,884 children have been injured.

«Our people pay the highest price of all possible. There is no higher price. We have given all our money — everything we have financially. But most importantly — we have given the lives of our people», — Zelensky said in the interview.

Later, Zelensky's spokesperson refuted the information that the president stated about «100,000 military casualties» noting that the information was only voiced by the voiceover of the 60 Minutes program. In mid-February 2025, Zelensky confirmed the death of over 46,000 fighters.

In the interview, Zelensky also urged US President Donald Trump to come to Ukraine before implementing his «peace plan», so he could «understand what is happening here». According to Zelensky, after visiting Ukraine, Trump would have to realize what Vladimir Putin represents, with whom he wants to make a deal.

Zelensky also emphasized that if Vladimir Putin is not stopped, the war in Ukraine could escalate into World War III. «If we do not show firmness, he (Putin) will advance further. This is not just idle speculation, the threat is real. Putin's ultimate goal — is to revive the Russian Empire and reclaim territories that are now under NATO protection. Considering all this, I believe the situation could escalate into a world war», — he stated.
