A criminal case was initiated against a 42-year-old resident of Krasnoyarsk under the article on 'calls for terrorism' for continuing Margarita Simonyan's thought about a 'nuclear explosion over Siberia', reported the telegram channel Baza.
In October 2024, the head of RT stated on the show 'Ch.T.D.' that 'there is nothing scary about a nuclear explosion over Siberia'. According to Baza, Krasnoyarsk resident Vyacheslav K. responded to Simonyan's post with the suggestion to 'blast' over Moscow, 'or even better over the Kremlin'.
For this and another similar comment, a case was initiated against the man under the article on 'calls for terrorism'. The Krasnoyarsk resident faces a fine of up to a million rubles or a prison term of up to seven years.
After Simonyan's statement, Krasnoyarsk historian Ilya Bobrik launched a petition demanding that the editor-in-chief of RT be held accountable 'for extremism and insulting Siberians', which was supported by more than 77 thousand people in six months.
Moscow City Duma deputy Evgeny Stupin* also asked to check Simonyan's statement, but the Ministry of Internal Affairs found no violations.
