In the Belgorod region, a Russian plane 'dropped' a bomb, damaging eight residential houses

2025.04.11

The authorities blamed the attack on the Armed Forces of Ukraine

According to ASTRA* sources in the emergency services of the Belgorod region, on the evening of April 9, a UMPB-250 bomb fell and exploded near the village of Tsibulevka in the Rakityansky district. As a result of the explosion, the roofs and windows of at least 8 residential houses on Urozhainaya Street were damaged.

The head of the region reported on the damaged houses in the village but blamed the shelling on the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 'In the Rakityansky district, one munition was launched and two drone attacks were carried out on the villages of Bobrava, Pskovskoye, and Tsibulevka, one of which was shot down by the air defense system. In the village of Tsibulevka, 8 private houses were damaged, in the village of Bobrava — a tractor,' wrote Vyacheslav Gladkov on his Telegram channel.

According to the publication's calculations, since the beginning of the year, Russian forces have 'dropped' at least 51 bombs (44 FABs and 7 UMPBs) and three missiles in the Belgorod region and in the occupied territories of Ukraine. In 2024, at least 165 bombs fell on these territories. Thus, on April 8, in the Yakovlevsky municipal district of the Belgorod region, an FAB 'accidentally detached' from a Russian plane again, the bomb fell right in front of the car of a 36-year-old local resident. The bomb did not explode, and a crater formed on the road. The resident received multiple shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized.

'Pepel' writes that in order to bomb targets in Ukraine and not expose planes to air defense fire, explosive bombs have been equipped with special 'wings' — planning and correction modules that allow bombs dropped over Belgorod to glide to targets in Ukraine. However, this system is imperfect, and frequent failures occur.
