Khabarovsk activist Andrey Zelenov was released after serving a 15-day administrative arrest, reported the human rights project «OVD-Info»*.
Zelenov was detained on March 20 on his way to work. Security forces dragged the activist into a "van", after which they began to beat and torture him with electricity. "First, they attached electrodes to his fingers, then to his genitals," Zelenov said.
During the beating and torture, the man was asked questions about connections with Ukrainian intelligence, and Ukrainian names were mentioned. In addition, the detainee was offered to sign a contract for military service, under the threat of being charged with treason.
As a result, the Central District Court of Khabarovsk arrested Andrey Zelenov under the article "for disobedience to FSB officers".
Zelenov associates the persecution with his activist activities, including participation in protests in support of the former governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Sergey Furgal, who was sentenced to 22 years of strict regime imprisonment on charges of murder.
