The authorities of two Russian regions — Mordovia and Samara region reported fires at industrial enterprises as a result of a night attack by Ukrainian drones.
As reported in local public channels, in Saransk, the "Fiber Optic Systems" enterprise was attacked — the only optical fiber production in Russia. The authorities of Mordovia confirmed that "one of the enterprises was attacked by UAVs".
As The Insider* found out, through JSC "Fiber Optic Systems", previously partially owned by "RUSNANO", foreign components were imported into Russia, which are mainly used for import substitution in fiber optic production. The enterprise placed orders for the supply of Chinese preforms, as well as polymer coatings and hardeners. At the same time, the main non-civilian consumer of fiber optics are manufacturers of strike drones for the Russian army.
In the Samara region, an enterprise in Chapayevsk was attacked, reported the head of the region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev. The city-forming enterprise of Chapayevsk is the explosive production "Promsintez", which had previously been attacked on the night of March 22.
According to the Ministry of Defense, several dozen drones were shot down over other regions of Russia: 16 in the Voronezh region, 14 in the Belgorod region, 6 in the Kursk region, and one each in the Bryansk, Oryol, Lipetsk, and Penza regions.
