A criminal case has been initiated against Valeria Vetoshkina for evading the duties of a 'foreign agent', reported the «First Department»*. Previously, she was fined twice for failing to submit financial 'foreign agent' reports to the Ministry of Justice.
«Let them shove the criminal case somewhere», — commented Vetoshkina herself on this news.
At the end of November 2021, Vetoshkina was included in the register of 'foreign agents' along with other members of the «Team 29». In October 2024, the ECHR recognized that Vetoshkina's right to a profession and freedom of expression had been violated.
By the end of 2024, 170 people received two fines each under the administrative article for violating the order of activity of a 'foreign agent'.
Valeria Vetoshkina is a former participant in the human rights projects «Team 29» and «First Department». She is currently collaborating with «OVD-Info» and is abroad.
«Team 29» handled the case of Ivan Safronov and a number of other criminal cases on 'treason' and 'espionage'. In July 2021, Roskomnadzor blocked the organization's website, and it announced its closure. The explanatory note from Roskomnadzor stated that some materials from an organization registered in the Czech Republic and recognized as 'undesirable' in Russia, Společnost Svobody Informace, were posted on the project's website. «Team 29» denied the presence of materials from the Czech organization on the site.
