The press service of the Israel Defense Forces reported that Ahmad Salman Awja Shimali, the commander of Hamas combat units responsible for preparing the October 7, 2023 attack and deploying the group's forces, was killed. Also eliminated was the commander of the 'Shejaiya' battalion, Jamil Omar Jamil Wadia, who was among other things accused of participating in the anti-tank missile attack on a school bus in April 2011.
Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces announced the elimination of the head of the Hamas unit responsible for strategic military planning, member of the group's political bureau Salah al-Bardawil.
The IDF also confirmed a strike on the 'Nasser' hospital in Khan Yunis, according to Times of Israel, a member of the political bureau, the curator of the group's financial operations, Ismail Barhum, was killed.
