On March 20, the FSB detained independent Yakut journalist Sasha Alexandrova, reports «Govorít NeMoskva»*. She is charged with «public calls for terrorist activities» and «public justification of terrorism». The specific reasons for the accusations against Alexandrova are not yet known, but such articles often lead to criminal cases for supporting Ukraine. The publication writes that the journalist is in a detention center.
Until 2022, Alexandrova worked at the editorial office of the site YKT.ru and the online publication SakhaDay. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, she moved to Kazakhstan, created her own site ZIMA, published critical materials about the actions of the Russian authorities, and spoke out against the war.
«My profession, already on its last breath, has died completely. Few probably wanted the homeland to turn into a country Z», — wrote Alexandrova.
In 2024, she returned to Yakutia. The site SakhaNews notes that «the rhetoric of her publications changed, but apparently, it didn't help her».
