He is accused of spreading military "fakes" for a comment on "VKontakte," the investigator immediately suggested he "go to the special military operation"

Kaliningrad activist Oleg Savvin, accused of "fakes" about the army, was taken into custody until May 14. He was detained on March 19, and the investigation charged the activist with a comment on "VKontakte" published in May 2022. "They had been watching him for a long time, already four volumes of the case, expert analyses. But they were debating whether to start the case or not because there were only reposts, but they dug and found a three-year-old comment," said Savvin's lawyer Maria Boncler to Sotavision*.

At the court hearing on the preventive measure, investigator Roman Efimov explained the essence of the accusation in detail. "The accused sits at home and writes offensive posts about those who die on the front. And the most frightening thing is that these posts are seen by minors, and their brains are plastic, and they can be infected with such ideas. In the future, such actions lead to a Maidan. A person with such interests should not be at large, and it would be better if Savvin, after the pre-trial detention center, signs a contract and goes to the special military operation," the investigator stated.

He also demanded a preventive measure in the form of arrest, as Savvin has relatives in Odessa, and the accused himself once worked in Poland on road construction. In addition, Savvin had a criminal record, which, according to the investigation, means he knows about the work of law enforcement agencies and can destroy certain physical evidence that was not seized during a six-hour search of the apartment.

The court sent Savvin to the pre-trial detention center for 1.5 months.

In 2015, a court in Kaliningrad sentenced Oleg Savvin and another activist Dmitry Fonarev to one year and one month in a general regime colony for the case of hoisting the German flag on the garage building of the regional FSB administration. At that time, Savvin was released in consideration of the term he served in the pre-trial detention center.
