The Khabarovsk Regional Court sentenced a retired lieutenant colonel to 13 years in a high-security penal colony in a criminal case of «treason», reported the press service of the region's courts.
The former serviceman was also fined 300 thousand rubles and given a restriction of freedom for one and a half years after serving the sentence. In addition, he was stripped of his lieutenant colonel rank.
According to the prosecution, the Khabarovsk resident transferred money in the summer and fall of 2022 to a close relative living in Ukraine, who sent it to a fund that «purchased weapons, ammunition, uniforms, and equipment in the interests of Ukrainian military units».
The court's statement noted that the lieutenant colonel was «an opponent of the special military operation» and «understood that he was acting against Russia's security», he admitted his guilt. «In addition to the confession, the defendant's guilt was established during the trial by witness testimonies, to whom he spoke about financing the Ukrainian fund for the purchase of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine», — reported the court's press service.
