The 2nd Western District Military Court delivered verdicts in two criminal cases against five Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen involved in the Ukrainian invasion of the Kursk region, reported the Russian Prosecutor General's Office. Vedernikov was sentenced to 17 years in prison, Pinchuk and Khatenko to 16 each, and Dzyoma and Popov to 15 each.

According to the investigation, in September 2024, they invaded the Korenevsky and Sudzhansky districts of the Kursk region, mined roads, and 'repeatedly opened fire to kill Russian servicemen and civilians, prohibited them from moving, and obstructed evacuation.' They were captured a few days later.

According to 'Mediazona'*, the 2nd Western District Military Court received cases against 115 captured Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters in connection with the invasion of the Kursk region. Verdicts have already been issued in more than 30 such cases. Russia qualifies the actions of the regular Ukrainian army as terrorism.
