At an off-site meeting on issues of supporting participants of the "SVO," the head of the republican parliament, Farid Mukhametshin, reported that Tatarstan spent "on solving the tasks of the special operation in all directions" 36 billion rubles, noted the publication "Govorite NeMoskva"*. This is a third of the budget of the republic's capital, Kazan, and the two-year budget of Naberezhnye Chelny. The oil capital of Tatarstan, Almetyevsk, could live on this amount for 4.5 years.
In January 2023, the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, announced the amount of support for the "SVO" at 2.5 billion rubles.
Tatarstan is one of the "leaders" in the number of casualties in Ukraine. According to Idel.Realii**, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 4,300 natives of Tatarstan have died. From January 1, 2025, the regional payment for signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense is 2.2 million rubles.
