A human rights activist from Stavropol, Georgy Legkobitov, became a defendant in a criminal case of defamation against an FSB lieutenant colonel named Evdokimov, reported the publication «7x7»*.
Georgy Legkobitov defended his son, eco-activist Sergey Legkobitov, who was sentenced in April 2024 to 7.5 years in a colony on charges of mediating a bribe. Sergey fought against a landfill, and the businessman who organized it testified against him. The eco-activist's family considers the criminal case fabricated.
The investigation of the criminal case was conducted by FSB lieutenant colonel Evdokimov, and the defense repeatedly pointed out violations of the law.
The reason for initiating the case against Legkobitov Sr. was a video published in May 2024. In the recording, he stated that there was no crime report in the case materials, on the basis of which the FSB initiated a case against his son.
The statement against Georgy Legkobitov was written by Evdokimov himself, and because of this, on March 4, law enforcement officers came with searches to Legkobitov and his associate, lawyer Ekaterina Kuznetsova. Under this article, the human rights activist faces either a fine of up to one million rubles, or forced labor or a real term of up to two years.
