President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the meeting with Donald Trump at the White House did not go «as expected», but Ukraine does not refuse peace talks.
«No one wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I are ready to work under the strong leadership of President Trump to achieve lasting peace. We are ready to work quickly to end the war», — Zelensky wrote on the social network X.
He also stated that the first stages in the process of ending the war could be the release of prisoners, a ceasefire at sea and in the sky, which implies a ban on the use of missiles, long-range drones, and strikes on energy and civilian infrastructure. Then Ukraine would like to «very quickly» move on to the next stages and agree with the USA on a strong final agreement.
Zelensky also expressed gratitude to the USA for their support, recalling the transfer of «Javelins» to Ukraine during Trump's presidency.
«Our meeting in Washington, at the White House, on Friday did not go as expected. It's unfortunate that it happened this way. It's time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive. Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it at any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step towards strengthening security and reliable security guarantees, and I sincerely hope it will work effectively», — stated the President of Ukraine.
