Film critic Ekaterina Barabash was detained in a criminal case on military «fakes», her son reported this on February 25, and today the Investigative Committee confirmed it. A session will be held at the Dorogomilovsky District Court to choose a preventive measure.
The Investigative Committee reported that Barabash is accused of spreading «fakes» «motivated by hatred», the basis was her post on a personal page in one of the social networks. The journalist has already been charged. «During the interrogation, she fully admitted her guilt», — claim the Investigative Committee.
Ekaterina Barabash — a film critic, was fired from «Interfax» in 2016 for criticizing the Russian authorities on social media. Since October 2022, she has been collaborating with Republic*. In Republic, Barabash wrote about the film industry, one of her latest articles is dedicated to director Konstantin Bogomolov and his upcoming play about Putin's successes. The critic suggested naming the play «Kyiv in three days».
One of the employees of Republic told «OVD-Info»* that on February 23, Barabash returned to Moscow from Berlin and was held for three hours at border control. «This happened after each of her border crossings in recent months», — she noted.
