In the regions, hundreds of people came to the memorials, several dozen people were detained, five Yaroslavl residents were detained on their way to Moscow

According to the volunteer project "White Counter", on February 16, Borisov Cemetery was visited by more than 5.3 thousand people. "Borisov Cemetery is historical and not very large, so it makes sense to assume that almost all of those who came and stood in line were going specifically to Alexei's grave," noted the project.

Alexei Navalny's mother, Lyudmila Ivanovna, expressed gratitude to all the caring people who paid tribute to the politician at Borisov Cemetery. "Those who come here are the best, patriots of the Motherland. For me, these are the best people in Russia. This is patriotism, when they love their country and want to make it a little better. Russia should be happy!" she said.

In the regions, people came to the memorials of victims of political repression, according to "OVD-Info"** at least 26 people were detained.

In Volzhsky, Volgograd region, a member of the "Yabloko" party, Alexander Efimov, was detained, he was left in the police department overnight and a protocol was drawn up for demonstrating "extremist" symbols, writes "OVD-Info". The law enforcement officers considered a portrait of Alexei Navalny as the symbol. The court sentenced Efimov to 14 days of administrative arrest.

Also, the police "due to a lookout for the car" detained five Yaroslavl residents who were traveling to Moscow to Borisov Cemetery. As the detainees told "OVD-Info", after the detention they were taken for a medical examination. Two refused to undergo it, and they were taken to different police departments, with protocols drawn up for alleged drug use. The other three detainees were released after the examination.
