The Westminster Book Awards are awarded annually to authors of the best books on politics, with winners chosen by members of the UK Parliament. This year they chose Alexei Navalny's book «Patriot».
«At this pivotal moment, when we are all concerned about how to combat polarization and counter misinformation, the role of bold, nuanced, and well-researched political literature and the bookstores that play a crucial role in its selection and promotion has never been more important», — stated Meryl Halls, Director of the Booksellers Association of the UK.
The award ceremony took place on February 12 at the Parliament building in London.
Navalny began writing his memoirs after his poisoning in 2020 and continued working on them in prison. Sales of «Patriot» started on October 22, 2024, after his murder in a colony in Harpe. The book was published in 26 languages.
