Ukraine returned 150 servicemen from Russian captivity — soldiers, sergeants, and officers. This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, on his Telegram channel. According to him, it was possible to return warriors of the Naval Forces who were captured in Mariupol and Zaporizhzhia region, Air Forces, military of the Air Assault and Ground Forces, national guardsmen, border guards, territorial defense members, and also a policeman. Some of them had been in captivity for more than two years.
“All of them are from different fronts, but they are united by one thing: they fought for Ukraine,” wrote Zelensky.
The Russian side limited itself to stating that the Russian servicemen who returned from captivity are on the territory of Belarus.
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets stated that prisoner exchanges with Russia should become systematic in 2025. According to him, there is a “preliminary agreement” with the Russian side.
The previous prisoner exchange took place on January 15. Ukraine returned defenders of Mariupol and 'Azovstal' from Russian captivity.
