The Investigative Committee of the Yadrinsky District of Chuvashia initiated a criminal case against the editor-in-chief of the newspaper «Vzyatka» Eduard Mochalov for «insulting a government official», he reported this himself in «LiveJournal».
On January 27, law enforcement officers came to Mochalov with a search and seized a computer system unit and a router. The case was initiated based on the statement of the head of the police precinct department of the Morgaushsky District of Chuvashia, Dmitry Grigoryev, and his subordinate Marina Nikolaeva.
The reason for the prosecution was Mochalov's post in «LiveJournal» from November 2024 — «The Morgaush police deserve only shackles, not praise», in which he accused the police of falsifying documents in the case of insulting the daughter of a local farmer to stop the investigation.
Former farmer Eduard Mochalov founded the newspaper «Vzyatka» in 2008, after the raider seizure of his company, reporting on corruption. In 2022, Mochalov refused to go to war on a mobilization summons, he was fined for calling on Russians not to participate in the war.
