The court arrested the head of the 5481 military representation of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergey Bolgarev, in a corruption case, accusing him of receiving a bribe in an especially large amount, the Investigative Committee reported. The sanctions under this article are up to 15 years in a penal colony.
According to the investigation, in 2017–2023, the Ministry of Defense concluded more than 10 state contracts with defense industry enterprises for a total amount exceeding 500 million rubles. The contractors were supposed to supply military products, including for units participating in combat operations.
The Pyatigorsk plant “Impulse” was involved as a subcontractor. Responsible for quality control of the products was Boldyrev, who over the years received 14 million rubles from the plant's director, Sergey Kuzmenko, for formal acceptance and general patronage of the enterprise.
At the request of the military investigator, the court chose a measure of restraint for Bolgarev in the form of detention.
In January, the St. Petersburg Garrison Military Court found the former head of the military representation of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Valentin Korbut, guilty of receiving bribes in an especially large amount and confiscated more than 24 million rubles from him in favor of the state. The investigation and court established that he received bribes from contractors through controlled firms. The court sentenced him to six years in a strict regime colony with the deprivation of the military rank of “lieutenant colonel.”
