The Ministry of Emergency Situations recorded new oil spills on 17 sections of the Black Sea coast over a distance of more than 63 kilometers within a day, the agency reported on its Telegram channel.

In the Krasnodar region, 2300 tons of contaminated sand and soil were removed within a day. Since the beginning of the work, more than 303 km of shoreline have been cleaned and over 175,000 tons of contaminated soil have been collected, including areas in the annexed Crimea and Sevastopol, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. The agency's employees treated 2300 square meters with sorbent and completed the pumping of oil from the tanker “Volgoneft-239”.

Meanwhile, the government allocated 1.5 billion rubles from the reserve fund for the elimination of the consequences of the oil spill in the Kerch Strait, reports the government website. These funds will be directed to the budget of the Krasnodar region, and will be used for the disposal and neutralization of oil-contaminated sand, as well as for the restoration of beaches.

On December 15, two “Volgoneft” tankers with oil products were wrecked in the Kerch Strait, and volunteers continue to work at the oil spill sites. According to the Ministry of Transport, 2.4 thousand tons of oil products entered the Black Sea.
