In Kamchatka, a participant in the war in Ukraine was sentenced to seven years in prison for armed hostage-taking

The Pacific Fleet Military Court sentenced Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky resident Nikita Shevchenko to seven years in prison in a case of armed hostage-taking, «Mediazona»* found the case card on the court's website. He will spend the first two years in prison, and the remainder of the term in a high-security colony.

In March of last year, Shevchenko, while under the influence of drugs, threatened his acquaintance with a knife, forbidding her from leaving the apartment. He held one knife to the girl's neck and the other to her stomach. The victim managed to inform her relatives, who then contacted the police.

According to the court's press service, negotiations with Shevchenko were attempted by servicemen from the unit where he served, as well as police officers, but they were unsuccessful. Subsequently, the apartment with Shevchenko and the hostage was stormed.

According to Baza and «Caution, news», the accused is a participant in the war in Ukraine who had been convicted under an article for causing grievous bodily harm.
