The court seized the property of rapper Alisher Morgenstern, accused in a criminal case of evading the duties of a 'foreign agent', reported the Moscow prosecutor's office, which had previously filed a motion for arrest.
The musician was prohibited from performing any legal actions with the land plot and residential house in the Istra district of the Moscow region, as well as with a non-residential building and three premises, the department added. Meanwhile, the rapper's lawyer Sergey Zhorin told RBC that the defense and the musician himself had not received official notifications of the arrest and learned about the decision from the media.
'Now we will request official documents, and if this information is true, we will appeal the acts by which the arrest was imposed,' he said.
The criminal case against Morgenstern was initiated in September last year. He is accused of distributing materials without the 'foreign agent' label in 'one of the messengers and video hosting'.
The Ministry of Justice included the rapper in the 'foreign agents' registry in May 2022. Before that, he left Russia.
