A search was conducted at Ilya Yashin's* parents' home, after which they were interrogated at the Investigative Committee

The 'events' took place as part of a new criminal case against Yashin under the article 'for evading the duties of a foreign agent'

On January 15, a search was conducted at the home of Ilya Yashin's parents as part of a criminal case for which the politician was previously declared wanted. As it turned out, the case was initiated on December 5 under the article 'for evading the duties of a foreign agent'.

After the search, the parents were interrogated at the investigative department. 'The investigator was interested in whether they keep in touch with me and where I am now. One would think that the authorities don't know where they themselves sent me from Russia... But my parents, of course, exercised their right under Article 51 of the Constitution and did not answer the questions,' Yashin wrote on his Telegram channel.

He also added that he considers the law on 'foreign agents' to be fascist, and the pressure on the families of opposition members to be disgusting. 'The real foreign agent, who is turning our country into a Chinese gas station, is Putin,' Yashin concluded.

At the end of December last year, 'Mediazona'* found information in the department's database about the search for Ilya Yashin, who was released in August as a result of a prisoner exchange between Russia and Western countries. The card appeared in the Ministry of Internal Affairs' wanted database on December 25. At the same time, there was no official announcement about the initiation of a new criminal case against the oppositionist.

* Recognized as 'foreign agents' in Russia.
