FSB officers detained a resident of Khabarovsk suspected of collecting information for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the regional department.
The security forces claim that the Khabarovsk resident «proactively established a confidential cooperation relationship» with representatives of the GUR through an unnamed messenger «with the aim of assisting them in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation».
The woman collected information about law enforcement officers, as well as about civilian and military infrastructure objects, according to the FSB. A criminal case has been initiated on confidential cooperation with foreigners, and the court sent her to a pre-trial detention center.
According to the project «First Department»*, more than 1000 criminal cases of «treason», «confidential cooperation» with a foreign state, and «espionage» have been initiated in Russia since 1997. Almost 800 cases have been initiated since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. In the last 11 months of last year alone, 359 sentences were handed down, all defendants received real terms.
