Israel accused Hamas of disrupting the ceasefire agreement and hostage release

Hamas backed out of some points "at the last minute," the Israeli government will not convene to approve the agreement until all points are accepted

UPD: The Palestinian group Hamas is committed to the ceasefire agreement announced by mediators on Wednesday, a senior group representative Izzat al-Rishq said on Thursday, Reuters reports.

The Israeli cabinet refuses to approve the agreement with the terrorist group until mediators confirm that Hamas agrees to fulfill all the terms of the agreements, writes The Times of Israel.

"Hamas is backing out of the reached agreements and creating a last-minute crisis, which hinders the conclusion of the agreement," says a statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

On the previous evening, the Prime Minister of Qatar, US President Joe Biden, and US President-elect Donald Trump announced that a deal had been reached, but Netanyahu continues to insist that the final agreement has not yet been signed and unresolved issues remain, the publication notes.

On Wednesday evening, Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire. It was expected that on Thursday the Israeli government would approve it, and from January 19 the truce would come into effect.

The agreement implies a six-week ceasefire and the release of 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. One of the main conditions of the agreement is that the IDF will withdraw from the Gaza Strip. At the same time, Israel stated that the troops are already preparing for withdrawal.
