Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russia carried out a massive missile attack, launching several dozen missiles at the western regions of the country. «More than 40 missiles were in this strike, including ballistic ones. At least 30 were destroyed. Also, over 70 Russian attack drones were launched overnight. Thanks to our air defense, all involved units maintain the operation of our energy system», — wrote the president.
Early in the morning, Ukrainian monitoring channels reported that the Russian army launched Tu-95MS bombers from the «Olenya» airfield. Missiles Kh-22 were also launched from Tu-22m and guided air missiles. Before this, Ukraine was attacked by drones overnight. The main targets were the western regions, with some areas experiencing «arrivals» at critical infrastructure facilities, including gas ones.
Explosions occurred in Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, and Lviv regions.
In the Lviv region, missiles hit two critical infrastructure facilities. In the village of Sknyliv, a residential building and an outbuilding were damaged. A huge crater formed nearby.
In several regions, preventive power outages were implemented. «Due to the massive attack, the transmission system operator is applying preventive restriction measures», — reported Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. The outages affected Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Kirovohrad regions.
