Igor Lipsits stated that he completed the official procedure of renouncing citizenship of the Russian Federation, therefore, the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation and the decisions of the Khamovniki Court are insignificant to him.
The economist published the decision of the Khamovniki Court of Moscow, which fined him 30,000 rubles for "engaging in political activity in the form of disseminating opinions on decisions made by the public authorities of the Russian Federation" without asking the Ministry of Justice to recognize him as a "foreign agent."
"I am no longer obliged to place the foreign agent label and will not do so. However, I will keep the title of 'foreign agent of Russia' as a farewell medal from the Motherland, as it included me among those Russians who openly opposed Putin's war, among whom I see so many worthy people that I consider belonging to this circle honorable," he wrote.
Igor Lipsits is one of the founders of the Higher School of Economics. In March 2024, he was included in the register of "foreign agents," and later, due to this status, his textbooks began to be excluded from the school economics program.
* Recognized as a "foreign agent" in Russia.
