Japan expanded the sanctions list, including 51 companies, 11 individuals, and several banks from Russia and Georgia

The Japanese government expanded the list of legal and physical entities subject to sanctions imposed after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, reports «Interfax».

Sanctions are imposed against 51 companies, 11 individuals, and three Russian banks — CMRBank, RFK Bank, and Timer Bank. The Russian Machine-Building Research and Production Union, Aleksinsky Chemical Plant, ALROSA CEO Pavel Marynichev, and the first deputy CEO of the state corporation «Rostec» Vladimir Artyakov were sanctioned.

Japan's sanctions also affected 31 foreign companies from China, UAE, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, and Turkey, the Georgian MRB Bank, and one North Korean citizen.

The sanctions lists were expanded in June and April 2024. They include dozens of companies, including from China. A list of 164 categories of industrial goods prohibited from being supplied to Russia was also published. The Japanese authorities have ceased exporting many types of equipment, machinery, transport, and various industrial goods.
