On January 8, the Russian army attacked Zaporizhzhia with aerial bombs, targeting an industrial facility and civilian infrastructure. 13 people died, 122 were injured.
«This was a strike just on the city, on ordinary people. A completely deliberate strike by the Russian army. This again demonstrates what Russia really wants. They want only war and only victims. That is why not a single day can be wasted — we must pressure Moscow, we must force Russia to peace, we must continue to do everything necessary to protect life and stop deaths. And it is critical to maintain the unity of all our partners: America and Europe, all partners in the world who are helping», — wrote Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his Telegram channel.
On the same day, four people were trapped under the rubble of a house as a result of an attack on the border town of Stepnohirsk. One of the strikes hit the building of the village council, another — a residential building, local authorities reported. Two people were rescued, two died.
In total, during the day, Russian troops carried out 333 strikes on 12 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, wrote the head of the regional military administration Ivan Fedorov. He also added that 56 reports were received about the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure facilities, 51 settlements remain without electricity, more than 14,000 subscribers without gas, 14 settlements — without water.
