The Syrian Minister of Justice Shadi Al-Waisi, appointed to the position in December after the overthrow of Bashar Assad's regime, sentenced at least two women to death in 2015 for «corruption, prostitution, and adultery», writes Bild.
The new Syrian government is facing increasing accusations of Islamism. Two videos are circulating on social media showing the execution of two women. It is claimed that they were filmed in 2015. In the videos, the current Syrian Minister of Justice Shadi Al-Waisi is seen sentencing women on charges of «corruption and prostitution». In one case, it was revealed that the woman was accused of «adultery». After the sentence was pronounced, other men executed the women by shooting them in the head. Spectators greeted their death with cries of «Allahu Akbar».
Syrian analysts from Verify-Sy verified the execution videos and confirmed their authenticity, as well as the fact that Shadi Al-Waisi was indeed the one captured in the footage, at the time he was a judge serving Bashar Assad.
An official from the new government, who wished to remain anonymous, told Verify-Sy that the events «complied with the laws in effect at the time», and that the video reflects a stage «which we have left behind due to current legal changes».
