In Transnistria, almost all industrial enterprises, except for food ones, stopped working due to the cessation of gas supplies and the resulting energy deficit, said the first deputy prime minister of the unrecognized republic's government, Sergey Obolonik, as reported by the portal "News of Transnistria".
"The crisis is so severe that there is no need to list which enterprises have stopped. All industrial enterprises are at a standstill, except for those ensuring Transnistria's food security," he stated.
The day before, heating and hot water were turned off in Transnistria. "Due to the temporary cessation of gas supplies to heat-generating facilities, from January 1, 2025, at 7:00 AM, the supply of thermal energy for heating and hot water to the population will be stopped," reported "Tirasteploenergo." The only exception was made for hospitals.
Currently, in Tiraspol and the surrounding areas, it is about +7°C during the day and -2°C at night. Citizens are urged not to open hot water taps and not to drain radiators on their own.
According to the Telegram channel "Pridnestrovets," coal reserves at the GRES will last for 50-52 days.
Ukraine and the Russian "Gazprom" announced the cessation of gas transit to Europe through Ukrainian pipelines after the five-year agreement between the countries expired on January 1.
