The Russian army launched several groups of "Shaheds" towards Ukraine at night. Around 03:00, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the threat of ballistic weapons from the northeast, and there were reports of air defense operations in Kyiv. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also reported a missile heading towards the Shostka area in the Sumy region.

Early in the morning, missiles again flew towards Ukraine. There were reports of guided aviation missile launches towards Myrhorod in the Poltava region. Shostka was again hit by missiles in the morning. Separate infrastructure facilities were destroyed. Twelve multi-story residential buildings, two educational institutions, and several social facilities were damaged.

Emergency and rescue units are currently working on-site, and information about casualties and damage is being clarified.

In the morning, explosions were also heard in the capital of Ukraine. The Air Forces reported high-speed targets in the direction of Kyiv and Vasylkiv. Air defense was active in Kyiv and the region. As a result of the missile strike on Kyiv, debris was preliminarily recorded falling in the Darnytskyi district of the capital.

"According to information being verified, debris fell on the roof of a private building. There is no fire or destruction. No information about casualties has been received," said the head of the local administration, Serhiy Popko. Later, he clarified that 3 private buildings and 2 cars were damaged in the Darnytskyi district. Rescuers reported that there is currently information about a 50-year-old woman who was injured.

Also, in one of the districts of the Kyiv region, a private residential house was partially destroyed after enemy shelling.

The Russian Ministry of Defense traditionally stated that the strikes were aimed at the opponent's "headquarters."

Earlier, the head of the Center for Military-Legal Studies, Oleksandr Musiyenko, told RBC-Ukraine that after the Russian army's attack on Christmas, a massive strike could also occur on New Year's Eve.
